Welcome to masterli.com
World Martial Arts Academy was founded in 1984 by Master Jinheng Li with the goal to promote and practice "Wushu" as a contemporary Chinese Sport, as well as a way of life to increase health, fitness and wellness in modern society.
What is Wushu?
Wushu, which literally means "Martial Arts" in mandarin has various styles and forms of Quanshu (i.e. fist fighting arts) and even greater varieties of weapons training and exercises. The Chinese martial arts has a history dating back thousands of years, and has been considered as one of the greatest treasures of Chinese culture and art.
Wushu was unfortunately not included in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. However the International Olympic Committee will be sponsoring a wushu competition during the games. It is still not clear if wushu will be designated as a demonstration sport, as taekwondo was before it became an official event.
Please note: Safety is our main concern with all our students. Wushu is a very demanding sport and progress cannot be made while nursing injuries. We encourage all students to try their best according to their abilities. Our emphasis is on self improvement.
What we offer.
We offer courses for children and adults in both contemporary and traditional wushu. We operate out of two locations as well as teaching several affiliate programs. We have both group and private lessons available, as well as periodic seminars by martial arts masters.
